Wondering if anyone has seen this weird issue with CarPlay in their i4: I love the Apple Maps integration in the i4 which shows directions and maps on the cluster and HUD.
However I’ve noticed that about half the time I use this, the GPS location from my phone gets more and not inaccurate the farther I drive.
The first few miles I drive it works fine. Then gradually I notice the Apple Maps thinks I’m a few blocks east from my real location. Odd, I thought, but not too big a deal.
Then I drive on the freeway a few miles, and it’s showing me way off…many blocks east. Very distracting as the map keeps redirecting inaccurately.
By the time I’ve driven about 20 miles on the freeway, the map is comically inaccurate. Like 5 miles east of my actual location.
This affects my phone only when connected to CarPlay via Apple Maps. Weirdly, once the location becomes Inaccurate it also shows wrong in Google Maps. Restarting my phone doesn’t help; as soon as it reconnects to CarPlay it shows the wrong location.
My car’s GPS location is always accurate.
Sorry for the weirdly long and detailed post…hoping this is happening to other people as it could be a bug to be fixed.
