Ray Lewis's Last Home Game.
Post Body

Well, as everyone found out today, Sunday will most likely be the last home game for Ray Lewis.

The only way it wouldn't be the last one is if the Ravens and Bengals meet in the AFC Championship game. While it's possible, the chances are pretty slim that this will happen.

I will be in attendance on Sunday for when the Ravens take on the Colts. Since this is a good chance that this will be Rays last "signature" introduction ever at home, I will record this moment in HD from my seats way up high and post this video on /r/BIRDTEAMS so that all of you can see this last dance close to the same way that I will witness it on Sunday.

It's bittersweet. With Ray announcing this retirement it takes the pressure off the team for next year in trying to figure out how to handle an 18th season for Ray Lewis. It was going to be a huge cap issue for the Ravens and now we won't have to worry about it.

Ray is leaving on his own terms and this is exactly how I hoped it would go. On the other hand, the fact that we will never see that signature Ray Lewis introduction and #52 is a very sad thing to come to grips with. The man has played all 17 years for the same team. Something that is almost unheard of in this day in age of a salary capped NFL. I mean, who the hell ever though Payton Manning would be QB for anyone other than the Colts? Or Brett Favre ever leaving Green Bay?

I am happy that he will retire a Super Bowl champ. If it weren't for him, there is a damn good chance our Super Bowl victory never happens. Hell, we might not even make the playoffs that year with out him.

I know many people still have a bad taste in their mouths with the incident he found himself in back in 1999/2000. And to people who take issue with that, I can't say that they are wrong. While I don't condone how he handled the situation, I 100% believe he did not commit murder. He was given a second chance in life and in the NFL. To his credit, he didn't waste that chance and took full advantage of it. He turned his entire image around and never looked back. He went from one of the most hated (if not THE most hated) player in the NFL to one of the most admired 13 years later.

I will be there in 5 years when Ray gets into Canton. One of if not the greatest defensive player of all time. Of course I'm biased on that but I'm allowed to be. I watched the man for 17 years.
