For those that like backstory here’s a little preview: Valerys Everbright was a Devotion paladin, swearing her oath to Athena. She served in a Great War in her homeland and in the middle of the war was captured and brought aboard the naughtaloid ship. She escaped with a few other prisoners, and had to make her way through a strange new land. Shortly after reaching the emerald grove, she broke her oath. It was on accident, but Val decided to explore other faiths before renewing her oath. She dabbled in gaining strength from various sources: poseidon, Lolthitar, Shar, serving the people of the grove, until she finally decided to make an oath to the ancients. After a bit of adventuring, she meets Karlach. She decides to make a pact with zariel, in exchange for a solution to Karlach’s engine problem. Unfortunately, Val’s hasty decision means she didn’t pay attention to the fine print, and zariel has rigged the deal in their favor. Nevertheless, Valerys is now a Paladin and Warlock, seemingly growing in power. (I’m only at act 2 so far so no spoilers past that please)
