Dark Rai Hunt?

Hi guys- I have a question. I understand that when shiny hunting, some Pokémon such as roamers can lock their stats in. I successfully hunted and got my shiny Arceus but this Dark Rai is over odds at this point and I’m bored mock battling him.

My question is- if I knock this mofo out and ditch new moon island to go hunt Girintina or run around in the underground, I understand that dark rai will respawn, but will his stats be locked in (ex: like cresselia) or will I still be able to try to roll for a shiny?

If anyone knows please let me know! Thanks
