Me? I can never take a bite right away. I'll rinse it. Gently peel the skin, as thin as I can, look for bad spots. This is why I can never take a bite directly. It's not like I'll throw it away if there's any. It will just take a few extra steps as I work with them, peeling/scooping more till I get to the good parts. Then I slice it open, the seed pocket, the stem, the stiff parts laid bare. I gently scoop them out whole and then put the apple pieces on the plate. With my bare fingers, I pick up a piece and eat it, munching slowly. The sensation of touch is as important as the smell, colour and flavour of the fruit.
