Welcome to Off Topic Tuesday, where we talk about something not kink related for a little change of pace.
Today's topic: What's something you're good at? Toot that horn and tell us all about it! Is it something you're naturally good at? Something you worked hard to achieve success in? Maybe you've turned it into a job or hobby? We wanna hear it so brag away!
I'm really good at mathematical systems modeling. I focused on it in university and even did a research thesis on games of asymmetric information embedded in graphs that has applications in social network analysis, theoretical chemistry, crystallization modeling, and information transmission integrity. I never got to publish the work (ran out of time to finish writing the paper in my undergrad, and a PhD program wasn't an option at the time). Still with that, a bunch of other study in dynamical systems, functional analysis, fractional order calculus, hypercomplex analysis, harmonics, graph theory, random variables, random matrices, abstract algebra, and complex fractional partial differential (well technically differintegral) equations, I built to a kind of "knack" for knowing how systems work and interact now. I can't really visualize things in my mind but I can kinda "see" different forces acting on things and flow patterns of fluids intuitively since I've spent so much time modeling them.
It's a pretty niche skill and with CAD and FEA it's not really marketable for most business stuff, but I like it βΊοΈ
