Nightmare Symptoms
Post Body

Hello Reddit!

I've been experiencing an array over symptoms for over 2 years that began with heart palpitations. This escalated into digestive issues, muscle spasms, headaches, phantaom body pains, breathlessness, memory problems, brain fog and generally feeling awful.

I was diagnosed with anxiety and put on SSRI medication despite no previous history. I was adamant that I was anxious because of the symptoms but was told the anxiety was causing the symptoms. I took the meds for 2 months and then stopped and my symptoms persisted.

This week I was experiencing muscle twitches again along with pins and needles and that feeling you have when you hit your funny body travelling through my leg. I have also been unable to walk down more than 2 flights of stairs without my legs violently shaking.

I visited a new doctor who decided to run some tests including for B12 deficiency. It came back around 200 with 400 being the minimum listed and was marked in red as deficient. Today I went for my first IV called Medivitan and I am not joking I feel FANTASTIC!

I feel like I can finally take a deep breath for the first time in 2 years and haven't had a single muscle twitch since leaving the doctors office. I don't know whether the B12 acts this fast or whether I'm experiencing a placebo but either way I cannot believe this wasn't picked up earlier.

Until this week I knew nothing about the importance of B12 or the symptoms of a deficiency.

WOW!!!!!

I'm hoping this is in fact the root cause of the symptoms I've been experiencing and encourage other who may have similar symptoms to get checked. If this continues I will be a B12 advocate for life because it may well go on to change mine.

Is this misdiagnosis / long period of time to diagnosis common?
