From an Ayurvedic perspective, I understand that boiled water is best for the digestive system, and while I am for that, I still prefer to filter my water first before I boil it.
I used to have a static 7 stage filtration system under my sink, but I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel, so I'm currently limited to my Brita filter jug. Mine is of the older design where you fill the top reservoir and wait for it to filter down through the filter cartridge into the jug below. I know there are newer designs which filter (slowly) on the fly...
So, my questions are:
- Is there a filter jug solution which has benefits from an ayurvedic perspective?
- I've read a lot of good things about ZeroWater, and seen some impressive tests for how much it takes out of water. Any studies on which minerals should still be in water, and whether it removes those?
- What do you use?
Separately, but in concert, I'd also appreciate any suggestions for additives to plain water in the place of tea which helps with hydration and soothing the gut (I often find tea just doesn't hydrate me in the same way water does).
I have vata quite strongly out of balance, but my gut also seems to get triggered at the drop of a hat by anything that irritates pitta too (probably because my stress levels are currently so high). I have to try and avoid anything which dampens digestive fire too, so I've found I need to avoid the following:
- coconut water (too cooling - unless I can balance it with something?)
- lime juice (also cooling, and ditto)
- aloe vera (aggravates vata, also cooling)
- marshmallow root (soothing to the gut but cooling)
*~* Thank you in advance for any suggestions. *~*
