Iāve been using a few drops of neem oil in a tablespoon of coconut oil as part of a new oral healthcare regime. I donāt use it every day, but at some point after starting it my gut has started to flare up and all of the worst symptoms Iāve had from the past two years are back in spades.
What started as a gluten allergy developed into a vata-driven gut imbalance which has been hard to get on top of. A case of parasites added to the mix (likely from supermarket fish), but even having got rid of those, and having weeded out all the food I know of which irritate it, in the last couple of weeks it has become really bad.
As background, I almost never eat refined sugar (unless itās in something in small quantities and I donāt have a choice), Iām gluten free, I donāt eat much dairy, Iāve cut back on red meat, I havenāt had any alcohol in six months, and I eat waaay more fruit and veg than I have done at any previous point in my life. I eat khichari three of four days per week, using long grain basmati and not brown rice, and I know I shouldnāt be having symptoms this strong with the effort Iām making, so it seems obvious to me that there must be something else in the mix causing that balance.
Symptoms are tightness or what might be a slight swelling of the abdomen (which Iāve had previously when I was eating wheat and drinking alcohol and when I could also actually feel my colon twitch and spasm because it was so unhappy). I also have slight hemorrhoids which are indicative of an irritated colon but also of some blood pressure issues (professional Ayurvedic diagnosis) Given what Iāve researched, I see that neem can irritate vata and given that I know that vata is my principle dosha which is out of balance, it seems to be the most likely candidate. Iāve also been diagnosed as having low digestive fire; Iām male, 5ā9ā and 133lbs.
My main concern is that, previously, in this kind of situation, Iāve been able to cut out a troublesome food and the symptoms die down within about 48 hours, however, it seems like it is taking much longer for the symptoms to die down from taking this, and I really would like some relief.
So, can anyone recommend a counteracting remedy, ideally something which is tri-doshic, which wonāt cause anything else to flare up. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
