My venue is currently infested with mold, mainly due to the backboards being a mix of cottonwood and SPF.
Cotton or poplar should only be used as a throwing target, using it for backboard material will create 2 moist boards in a dark, damp environment.
Also, make sure you do NOT use bleach on your throwing surfaces to kill mold. Bleach will not work, as the pourous wood only absorbs the water component, and none of the chlorine from the bleach. This means even if you kill the surface layer, youโre ignoring the mold in the middle of your board. Use vinegar and borax instead.
