Updated specific locations to be searchable, take a look at Las Vegas as an example.

We made a custom move and we weren't even intending

Post Body

So last session, one of my PCs introduced her character who is a Rogue and is kind of a silly, resourceful man. Mid session, she asks me "can I have a bag of a menagerie of things?"

She wanted a bag that contained random semiuseful stuff like wigs, passports, t-shirts, etc. We thought that was a great idea yet we kind of wanted to make it a thing that doesn't just always have the right thing.

So we ended up creating this move

I may have a thing that can help here...

When you search your inventory for an item that can help roll with 0 (or should it be creativity?).

  • On a miss, you don't have anything that helps here. Note that this doesn't exist in your inventory. You can't try again to get it
  • On a low hit, you find something else that's only partially useful. The GM tells you what it is. Note that this is in your inventory
  • On a 10 you find exactly the right tool or object you are looking for. Note that this is in your inventory.

You can never get a specific item this way, only items of a kind (you can get "keys" but you can't get "keys to this house")

We ended up deciding this was one of her playbook moves because it only applied to her character.

I'm a total noob to the PbtA system and so should not be making up moves just yet. Is this a well made custom move? It seems fun enough and the tracking of the items pulled and failed to be pulled doesn't seem like a bother to the player but rather a fun tracking thing.
