Watched it for the second time now, and still just as if not more amazing. Now without too much dumping my father and I have been rocky all my life, a lot of “man” stuff and expectations, however in recent years he’s grown to respect me and whilst it’s not entirely stable it’s better. I think Lo’ak and Jake are just such a good example of this bond.

While I don’t think Jake should’ve been as harsh as he was, and so emotionally distant, I can understand why and I also completely understand Lo’ak’s position. High expectations, limited understanding or actual communication (highlighted even further by marine speak “lima charlie”). I completely related this whole time, and that final moment between them as Lo’ak shows Jake how to breath and Jake, at his wits end, gives in and finally finally LISTENS. Amazing. You can feel the respect and I felt that Lo’ak at the moment probably felt so relieved to be “seen” at long last. Amazing amazing amazing. Anyone else relate to this?
