I was diagnosed with AVN about 2 months ago, and have been in extreme pain and crutches for 4 months. Obviously I didn't know what it was until after dye injection MRI and X-rays etc. The part that I'm struggling with aside from pain, is that this has seemed to progress so fast. I got my MRI, got diagnosed, had a cortisone shot the next week. Felt great for 2 weeks then bam, can't walk again. I have a surgical eval scheduled for Feb. 14th. This is the most pain I have ever been in, and I am using a cane to go to work. Also, I'm 32 years old, and don't know how to handle this. Overall, even with a few months buffer, between diagnostics and surgical eval is about 5 months... That seems fast to me.
On a side note, it has been a struggle to get any kind of pain management for this. This is the most extensive and sharp pain that I have ever been in, and I have had 2 surgically repaired shoulders. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.. whether that's pain management or just overall pushing through.
