Looking to get my BF's "new" Jeep repaired as an xmas gift, but have no clue how to go about it
Post Body

My BF bought one of his unicorn vehicles a few weeks ago, it's an old Jeep Cherokee and he says it's in great condition except for the outside, that has seen much, much better days. It's black, and the paint on the hood is completely faded away, as well as on the top sides of the roof line above the doors, I think it's called clear coat peel or something like that? Also, he was mad because the seller said there wasn't any body damage but he found a spot on the back that has been bondoed over and is starting to crack away, it doesn't look too bad but definitely noticeable.

I would like to have someone (not me obviously) repair or maybe repaint the Jeep as an xmas gift to him, but I feel like the cost to fix would be much more than the car is worth, it's about 25 years old he says. I called 3 body shops and all of them said the cost would not be worth it on such an old car. They said they would need to repaint the whole car since it would be impossible to match up paint that is 25 years old on the hood. I tried Maaco and they want a minimum of 1,500 for paint alone, not even to fix the damaged areas. So, is there an "easy" way I can make it look better for him? It doesn't have to be perfect at all. Would a an auto detailer be able to make it look presentable maybe, aside from the cracking paint of course?

It's a surprise so I couldn't take many photos but I have some from the bondo area and a few of the hood that came from the ad he bought from , but it's a horrible picture.
