Remote Jobs / General Work Struggles
Post Body

Hello 🩵 My name is Isaac, I’m a 24 year old autistic transmasc person, and like many other autistic people, I’ve always had a really hard time when it comes to keeping a job. Not because I work poorly and get fired, but because work can really be a struggle and I usually end up quitting a job after about six months to a year.

I didn’t go to college ( I tried, and promptly decided it was not for me ), and so without any real qualifications, I’ve only ever worked various retail and fast food jobs. I’ve also worked a few animal husbandry jobs, as I’m great with animals.

Currently, I’m a shift lead at Pizza Hut. And I hate it. And I’ve re-entered the stage in working where the thought of entering that building makes my skin prickle with dread and anxiety.

I’m planning to move to the East Coast in about a year to live with my partner. I desperately need to find work that pays considerably more than what Pizza Hut pays ( it isn’t much ) so that I can save to restart my life in a new region of the country.

Recently, I’ve liked the idea of having a remote job. The problem is, when I try and search for them, I have a really hard time knowing what to even look for, especially considering I don’t have any college degrees or licenses, etc. So many remote jobs that come up seem scammy to me, or, they require things like insurance licenses.

I was wondering if anyone here had any insight and pointers to give me on what specifically I should be searching for, how to make it work, etc.

I have a lot of knowledge and experience on animals and nature ( not that either of these can be applied to a remote job ), and I’m also an avid reader and writer. I do learn new things very quickly, and I’m willing to try just about anything, especially if it’s worth while in terms of making money. I’m desperate to get out of my current living situation here in Hellish Ohio, and make my way to the East Coast for a fresh start.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🩵 Thank you in advance!
