I donā€™t know if this truly fits here so I apologize if it does not.

Iā€™m in a bad place mentally and iā€™ve been asked a few times by family members if iā€™m okay. i am not okay by any means, but i say ā€œiā€™m okayā€ because i donā€™t want to explain how i am really unwell and need help. i donā€™t want to explain why iā€™m not okay. i find i lie and say iā€™m okay because itā€™s what everyone wants to hear.

The only person iā€™m truly honest with 100% of the time is my husband, who is also coincidentally the only person i fully unmask with. He is the only person who seems to understand. Does anyone else do this? Is this an autism thing?
