Am I destined to be single?

Dating has never been one of my strong points. I’m a 35 year old gay man and I have just came out of a relationship. My first proper time dating someone ,and it happened in my mid 30s!
I’ve always struggled forming a bond/connection with someone. I’m very guarded at first and on edge and I appreciate this can be off putting for some people. It just seems to me I’ll never find anyone or love someone and be loved in return. I mean I waited till I was 35 for my first taste of it!!!
