Recently I've been reflecting on my experiences as an autistic person and I have been trying to unmask. I have a friend who says it's fine for me to unmask around them. But I also have noticed some signs that I can't actually do that. One of my autistic traits/ADHD. Is that when I'm info dumping I get upset when interrupted. But I recognize as a masking autistic that you need to let other people speak.
The only reason I know that is because growing up I had few friends. Honestly just one good one. There was a friend I wasn't terribly close to that once said to me while I was info dumping "could you just shut up?!"
To some degree I just feel like unmasking is a horrible idea. Because at the end of the day the most authentic version of myself had no friends.
