My son is 11 and started 6th grade this year. From day one we have had issues with some light bullying because he is very passive, and hates conflict. This morning my son did not pack his Garfield water bottle with his lunch and I asked why. He said a boy in his PE class threatened to shoot his water bottle, and shoot my son while making gun hand gestures towards him. I lost my ever loving mind y'all! I asked him when this happened, how long it's been going on, if he told an adult... This boy has been making those threats for WEEKS, and my son never told anybody because he thought he was joking. Oh lord.If I weren't already sitting on the couch I would of keeled over. I immediately informed his SPED teacher, and the principal. Now apparently this child has in school suspension, and a behavior plan in place to stay the hell away from my son. How can I keep talking to my son and telling him that he needs to tell an adult when these things happen, and to stick up for himself so he's not a target? I try and try and he just remains quiet. I tell him it's ok to defend yourself, to not let others pick on him. What more do I do? Stick him in a self defence class? Sports? I am at a loss. I will be speaking to his therapist about this as well for more solutions but, still. I hate doing this alone. I wish he had a father or strong male figure to talk to about this. I feel ill equipped for such issues. Like a failure cuz I can't help him fix this.
