My 4yo got her diagnosis today(ASD ADHD). While discussing her ASD level, her doctor mentioned he is reluctant to classify ASD in levels as they are arbitrary. That children at this age are constantly growing and changing and he has seen huge improvements after months of therapy. (He did assign her level 2 for insurance purposes).
He also mentioned that her ADHD diagnosis could change after a year's therapy.
My question is, is this consistent with parents' experience? I always thought autism/adhd couldn't be grown out of.
Thanks.
I would seek another doctor. It doesnโt go away they only learn to manage or mask their symptoms.
You need a doctor on board and ready to fully support your family or else anything that comes along in the future will also be a struggle.
I changed doctors 3 times before my son received his diagnosis and soon after he received early intervention. Medical diagnosis does matter in terms of services. Now at 8 he needs more services and the doctor we have now is always on board with everything he needs.
