My kiddo is about 4½ (diagnosed at 2) and has in the last few months started changing the names of things she knows. Examples; if I say "let's change your diaper" she might say "It's not a diaper, it's confetti!" She'll say it in kind of a whiney/angry tone. Or "that's not my shoes, it's a balloon!" Balloon and confetti are her two favorites to switch words with but I can't figure out why. Is it just a fun quirk of hers or have any other kiddos done this? I don't know if it's autism related or not but I figured I'd see if anyone else has heard their kid do this.
