Post Body

Hi all! I just found this sub and am in need of some support.

I have two children, my daughter will be 3 this month, and my son is 2. They are exactly 10 months apart.

They both have been diagnosed with autism - my daughter last March, and my son more recently in December.

As I was preparing my tax documents I noticed their diagnosis was ASD Level 3. This was a little heartbreaking as when I’ve asked they say they’re too young to know. Yet that diagnosis is on paper.

My daughter says a few words here and there, but mostly babbles and just mimics some sounds.

My son pretty much constantly hums / moans / groans / whines - I literally don’t know how to describe it. He used to say Mama, and has said his sisters name however, as of late I cannot get him to speak at all.

I was wondering, how many of you had / have children who received a level three diagnosis whos children did in fact end up speaking and not have incredibly high support needs?

I don’t care about the support needs, even if they were NT I’d be loving and supporting them until the day I die that’s parenthood, that’s love. But the idea of never hearing them speak is what’s getting me. They do have their own way of communicating and telling me what they want and need. I’m a little scatter brained right now, and I’m on mobile so I’m sorry for any mistakes or formatting issues. Happy to answer anything I may have left out.
