Should I get a pixie cut??

Post Body

Hi all, as a woman with sensory issues I’ve always found my hair to be the most difficult thing to know what to do with. I love long hair and find it beautiful. But I cannot stand wet hair, my hair being in my face, windy days. I feel like I’m constantly fighting my hair. But I’m conflicted because I find it to be beautiful and my hair has always been a big part of my self-esteem. So I am scared I will get the pixie cut and hate it. I’ve tried faking a pixie cut and I do think it suits my face but I’m also just too scared to go for it. Has anyone on here gone short for sensory issues, and how was it? Was it a great decision that has improved your life as an autistic woman? Or did it not change much? I’ve attached photos. I went through a period of cutting my hair shorter and shorter, though never a pixie. Then decided to grow it out and absolutely hated it and I’ve been going shorter and shorter since then.

I went short for sensory issues - and I never even realised it! 😅

I've never had super long hair - the longest it's been was early last year when it was just below shoulder length. I wanted to experience what it was like to have stereotypical feminine hair anddddd I ended up hating it.

I felt it obscured my face, like I was a spaniel with big flappy ears. I couldn't bear it in my face when it was windy, I couldn't bear it sticking to my face when it was rainy, I couldn't bear it in warm weather, it was so hot and itchy and sweaty, I couldn't bear it laying against my back wet whilst drying (which took all day, I have a lot of hair)...

I love short hair, I'm growing mine a little bit out now, but I don't think I'll ever have it shoulder length again.

If you wanna give it a go ease yourself into it, do it gradually; get a bob first and see how you feel. You have a beautiful face and suit long hair but I think you'd look just as good with it shorter. 😊
