How do y'all feel about sharing food you bought with your own money?

Post Body

There's times where I will buy myself a snack and expect to keep it to myself since I used my own money and had no intention of sharing. My older brother will ask to have some and I'll say no cause i used my money. My mom gets mad because he asked nicely and that apparently means I have to share(?)

According to her if I wanted to not share I should not eat in front of people, which seems absolutely crazy to me. I'm also not saying I never share food, but generally I don't see why I should be obligated to share something I bought with my money.

I'm just wondering how y'all feel about sharing food or if this is just a me thing.

When I was a child, it was a rule. If you brought food into the house, you bought enough for everyone. But since we all have had to abide by the rule, then it balanced out. Everybody bought eventually. In a family situation, that is how I see it.

Also, if you had company around dinner time you had to feed them. It is a cultural thing.

With roommates, the rule doesn't apply. Everybody is for themselves.
