Does anyone else find socializing easier when it’s through email/letters?

I’ve recently started to get back into penpal. I think one of the things I love about it so much is that I find it much easier to talk to people that way. There’s no rush. I can take my time and think about what I want to say/how I want to respond. I don’t have to wonder when it’s my turn to speak.
I was curious if anyone else shared this. Also is anyone else involved in the snail mail community?
