What does "cannot live alone" mean?

Post Body

Hi everyone! So I am getting my disability reviewed and I have a question about what "not able to live alone means". I am currently diagnosed with Autism 1 but am being reviewed for a higher level of disability. Reading through some Instagram posts about medium support autistics Ive seen them state things like "aren't able to live alone/independently" but I'm not exactly sure what that means.

For background, I grew up in a very physically and emotionally abusive household with two very violent and unstable parents, and was parentified early. I left home at 17 to go to university and have mostly lived with roommates since then, but have lived completely alone on some circumstances.

My issue with the question is that TECHNICALLY can live alone, it's just disastrous when I do. I forget to turn off the stove and had things explode in my kitchen, have often forgotten to lock the door, the place is always a disaster, I can't keep up with cleaning or organization which causes me to have meltdowns. I forget to eat for up to a week if someone doesn't remind me. I am always in debt because I can't manage my finances either.

Despite being deeply unwell when I live alone, I again TECHNICALLY can survive alone to an extent (I haven't died yet I guess 🤷🏻). So I guess I'm confused as to what it means to not be able to live alone. What exactly is this referring to?

Thank you so much for any input!
