For context, my wife was a teacher librarian and has been of the game for 20 months while I’m a history teacher 10 weeks into a new profession. Yesterday my son received a third threat of break in, kidnap and rape of his mother and 9yo sister from an ex student of my wife’s. To say I am furious is an understatement. I was so close to physically confronting this group of 16yo boys but was calmed by work mates and friends. All incidents are with the police and the school has issued the ‘maximum suspension’ on the last two occasions with a lot of pressure from me. There seems to be this attitude of they are boys and these threats are just ‘all talk’. My response was simply,if they are saying, they are thinking about it. My wife is still working from home and she is scared. In 20 plus years of teaching I never experienced anything quite like this…we are in a small, rural community. I am lost for words and not sure how to proceed because this is going to keep happening. Has anyone else had similar experiences? How did you react/handle the emotion built up inside?
