Order,
Per section 6(1) of the standing orders, a president shall be elected.
Senators have 24 hours to either nominate a Senator, or propose themselves. If there is more then one nomination we shall proceed to a secret ballot to elect the president.
A seconder is not required.
Honourable Senators, please keep in mind the qualities that are of great benefit to a Chair. A member should:
Be an active participant Have a sound understanding of the procedures of the Senate Be familiar with the standing orders Be able to act with impartiality in the chair
If a Senator wishes to propose themselves they may do so with the following:
I, [username], do see to take the chair of this Senate as President
If a senator wishes to propose another Senator they may do so with the following:
I do propose that Senator [username of proposed] do take the Chair of this Senate as President
Nominations will close at 10:25AM 5/10/19
