I have received a message from the Senate Clerks regarding the introduction of a motion, namely the Motion for the Protection and Expansion of Medicare.

Motion Details

That this house:

1) Recognises how important Medicare is to providing all Australians with affordable healthcare services;

2) Commits this Government to protecting, preserving and expanding the Medicare system;

3) Calls for increased funding to Medicare to make sure its effectiveness and sustainability;

4) Calls for Medicare to be expanded to include further dental care and mental health services;

5) Urges this Government to consult with medical experts and the Australian people to develop policies to protect and expand Medicare.

Debate Required

The question being that the Motion be agreed to, debate shall now commence.
