[EVENTS] KFC Found to Abuse Chickens in China, Cambodia and Vietnam for Australian Products

BREAKING NEWS—ABC reporters have uncovered evidence that Kentucky Fried Chicken has been abusing chickens that are culled to create Naked Zinger Boxes and other Australian KFC meals. The evidence includes proof that chickens have been fed through machines to kill them in an inhumane manner, and that they have been overfed in crowded and dirty conditions.

The Australian Government does have a law in the books regarding the proper treatment of animals, known as the Comprehensive Animal Welfare (Protection for Sentient Animals) Act, but this did not prevent KFC from importing products made from animal abuse from China, Cambodia and Vietnam, where animal welfare laws are less prevalent, and worker rights legislation is not as extensive.

The animal rights organisation the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said in a statement regarding this news “This exploitation by KFC is completely unacceptable and is precisely the reason why we keep fighting for animal rights, despite the Animal Welfare Act of the government. The government must act and ensure that all animal products imported are treated with the same standard that Australian law dictates as well. They should also apologise for their support of Naked Zinger Boxes, made from innocent, abused chickens!”

KFC have declined to comment.
