COMMONWEALTH TIMES | MP ACTUALLY MAKES GOOD ON HIS PROMISES, CLP FREAKS OUT
Post Body

By Malcolm Tucker

In an interesting turn of events, we have seen two of the rarest occurrences in politics. The first of these was CPA MP for Moncrieff TreeEnthusiaster (Affectionately known as Trees by Moncrieff) actually making good on his promises. Trees went out to Paradise Point to talk to constituents about various local issues such as tidal erosion threatening coastal communities in the Gold Coast area. He also discussed making quality of life better for people in the Gold Coast, Logan City and the Sunshine Coast by reducing noise pollution, increasing public services and decreasing drunken crime. Sounds crazy right? A Member of Parliament not only NOT abandoning his voters 5 minutes after the election, but GOING OUT AND TALKING TO THEM ABOUT LOCAL ISSUES!! This is not what politicians usually do and luckily failed CLP candidate Porriiidge and the Courier Mail were here to save the day.

Ron Burgundy wrote in the Courier Mail that Trees was "under fire" for "failing to understand levels of government." Porriidge himself also decried Trees speaking on local issues, saying that "The Local MP is incapable of [listening to local queries]." Now I don't have to tell you how laughable these claims are, because most of you reading this have brains larger than apples. Saying that Trees is failing Moncrieff residents because he has called for tougher laws on assault and drunken crime after visiting Paradise Point to discuss with residents is quite a stupid claim; however it's far from out of character. The Courier Mail, mouthpiece of Porriiidge, has never been known for standing up for voters and not taking quotes out of context. After requesting input from 12MaxWild on a poorly-researched spin article on PennaHughesy, Max provided a full response completely addressing everything. However, Ron Burgundy decided that it was too good of a response and instead of using all or even half of the response he used half of the last sentence. With that context, you can see why and how Mr. Burgundy has managed to somehow see you checking in on constituents as a bad thing when it's done by other people.

In response to Trees visiting Paradise Point and other GC communities, Porriiidge has organised his own get-together which occurred just this morning at 6am. He brought food trucks and other amenities to Paradise Point so he could gossip or spread misinformation. In these meetings, Porriidge proudly boasts that he is doing the work that Trees isn't. However, he is just doing what Trees does, but adding an anti-poor and anti-work spin on it. You see, most people at 6am on a Monday are either getting ready for work or getting their children ready for school, and don't have the time to go to eat at food trucks with a failed politician. In fact, the only people who do have the time to show up are those who are wealthy enough to not work or have flexible working arrangements, so he is effectively holding an event for wealthy potential donors. This raises an interesting question. Why does Porriiidge seem to only hold these events in wealthy areas? First it was in a national park in a wealthy area, now it's in Paradise Point. Next it will be in the Q1 Resorts and Spa with invites only sent to people with an income over $180,000. 12MaxWild on the other hand, the MP over in Brisbane, has held events with the local community in areas of all socioeconomic backgrounds.

Another interesting question that comes up is where he gets all this money from. Is it coming from donors? How do we know that he won't use taxpayer money to do it if he wins at the next election? Porriidge has many more questions to answer while Trees is busy out there doing his job.
