First week of parliament
By SprinklyDinks
So here we go, back into another term of parliament. This term burnt from the aftermath of what was supposed to be a grand coalition between the CPA and the Socialists, which instead turned into a mess as 12MaxWild, the leader of the CPA, ruined the relationship between Australia and New Zealand and thus the downfall of the CPA's position within the government. This poised TheSensibleCentre back into action as she was thrust back into the hotseat as the Prime Minister for her second term.
This term was spurred into action as the government released it's planned Impeachment Bill under the newly created Special Ministry for Constitutional Democratisation which will allow for parliament to now remove a sitting president when they are incapable of performing their duties as we saw with the latest president until they magically appeared to resign and then disappeared again. In addition this government also introduced the Registered Nurses Ensuring Quality Care Bill which would make it a requirement for all aged care facilities to have a nurse on call. In addition, I introduced a motion to celebrate and recognise NAIDOC week, which since it's inception has been about mourning and celebrating First Nations culture.
The right-wing coalition of the Liberals and the Commonwealth Party of course in their typical fashion voted against government action to have nurses in aged care facilities, voted against supporting First Nations communities and instead spent most of their time repeating racist rhetoric designed to hurt Australians. During the debate on NAIDOC Week, AlexM116, the Member for Moncrieff and a Member of the Commonwealth Party said this interesting snippet "even if [natives] are inferior to us Europeans in every possible way", the Commonwealth Party quickly tried to damage control by turning that statement into a way for them to argue that free speech is under attack, a smart play if there wasn't other repeated attempts by other members of the coalition to be blatantly racist. 12MaxWild on the Security of Key Assets Bill stated that there is a threat of the "red and yellow peril" and that Australian was in danger of "asians". A statement all too familiar to the right, which 13InchDuck, the candidate for Capricornia took on board in his speech on his campaign to win the seat, who spouted the Great Replacement Theory's talking points, speaking against multiculturalism and how apparently immigration is a plot by Whitlam to change the voting behaviour of Australia. The Liberal Party seems to be a friend to conspiracy theories all too well.
This kind of racism from the right coalition is something for which we should not support and is a great start to what will be a long term of parliament of the Commonwealth Party and the Liberal Party alienating and destroying Australia. Parliament is supposed to represent all of Australia not just white people as the Liberals and the Commonwealth instead want.
