After speaking with model-kyosanto before his resignation, I am pleased that I managed to convince him to issue a policy directive that begins work on the reconstruction of the Leongatha railway line. For too long, South Gippsland residents have been without the rail service that they want and deserve. Advocating for the restoration of rail services to Leongatha has been one of my main goals in politics, and I am overjoyed to see it within reach.

After the Treasurer's announcement, my office was inundated with a deluge of correspondence from South Gippsland residents similarly excited for the prospects and jobs that rail will bring back to their region, and it is the privilege and honour of a lifetime to be the Prime Minister who oversees this shot in the arm for South Gippsland.

This is a project near and dear to my heart, and one that I truly believe will do nothing but help Australians. As Prime Minister, I hope to do whatever I can to supercharge rail in this country. If any local residents' groups or members of Parliament wish to write to me about any rail projects in their area, I encourage them to do so, no matter their political stripes. I will listen to you.
