Ever since the fall of Germany in 1945, there exists an undercurrent of the remnants of the fascist movement across the world, rebuilding and hiding from common society. as the 20th Century gave way to the 21st, we have seen the movement come out into the lime light once again, taking advantage of the modern crisis' that the world finds itself in and proposes itself as an alternative to all those willing to listen. This entire historical process filled with complexity and nuance while simply can't be captured within one Opinion Article, it can be seen as a trend in modern history, due to the intersection of the failed or abandoned attempts by the allied powers to further combat Fascism and Nazism after the war till now with many governments fostering and engaging in a Geo-politik of contributing to the fascist movement that we have found ourselves observing and responding to currently.

While to finally rid ourselves of the fascist threat will mean to embark on a great Society and State Building project that hasn't been seen since the Time of Revolutions after the Great War, from addressing inequalities and past and present injustices done upon many populations and cultures across the world. Along with committing to significant cultural reforms that aim to address racism, nationalism and other attitudes currently held rather commonly, while all these projects simply cannot be finished within a single term of Government, instead, we must look at preventing the fascist movement from gaining any momentum that it can possibly obtain through organising and advocation, recruitment and financing. Preventing them from doing these activities via legislative, executive and judicial means, often needing to tie all three together for the greatest affect. Stops them from becoming a large enough movement since their activities have become illegal and the rule of law is enforced as strongly as possible allows us to protect the current democratic system and prevents it from slipping into Totalitarianism based on extremist, genocidal and racialist ideologies.

And while specific governments can recognise the threats and others don't, we simply shouldn't as political movements ignore the growing fascist movement before we find ourselves underneath the Jackboots of them when it is too late. We must recognise reality and the gravity of the situation we find ourselves in, otherwise we lose any kind of freedom, prosperity and sanity that we have to a movement that is hellbent on re-winding the clock to an imagined past that has never existed. Which is why this government and any other future government, should conduct a new programme of society and state building that rids us of the root causes of fascism and leads to a world of justice.
