Statement from the Prime Minister
Post Body

--[Statement from Prime Minister Youma]--

After deep thought and discussion, I announce today that I will not be contesting the next election. Serving as Prime Minister of this nation has been a true honour, however as recognised by former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, it it is right to recognise when there is nothing left in the tank, and when is best to bow out and hand over to the next generation. I am incredibly proud that we have delivered the stability that our nation has desperately needed following continuous chaotic governments.

As promised at the last campaign, I will continue to serve as Prime Minister until the end of the term. The Social Democratic Party has tonight finalised the election of a new leader who will lead our party to the federal election, and who I am sure will see our party enter into another term of government. The new leader of the Social Democratic Party, endorsed unanimously by the national conference, is Senator Smug_Demoness. I have full confidence in Smug as she takes over the reins of our party, and as she takes us towards the election.

Thank you to all who stood with the SDP and myself as the Prime Ministerial candidate, and who gave us your support. It has been an honour to serve you, and I hope that in the years to come we may reflect upon this term as the beginning in the restoration of stability and trust within Australian politics. Thank you especially to my SDP colleagues, and those in the CLP, who have served brilliantly in making this nation a better place. An extra special thank you to Deputy Prime Minister Gregor, who has served our nation with distinction, and whom has kept this country running smoothly while I have been on recent leave.

To all Australians, while my page has turned, the light on the hill still shines. The hope of all Australians shall continue to rest on those who put forward strong and sensible progressive governance, which I am so thankful for being given the opportunity to do once again.
