Post Body

When Smith's Alternative announced earlier today that it was holding a surprise event featuring maverick Senator TheSensibleCentre, nobody was quite sure what to expect.

Those who managed to secure tickets to the event were stunned to see the Senator take the stage with an old guitar, backed by three people "nobody had ever seen before."

The Senator then raised her fist in the air and said "this next one's for Jordology" before performing There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths (although the Senator erroneously claimed the song was by Ghost Mice, a now defunct folk punk band that covered the song, and pointedly ignored numerous corrections) ten times in a row, without interruption.

By the end of the set, TSC was visibly dripping with sweat and struggling to speak, having performed the song with an unusual intensity. The dishevelled Senator raised a fist and said "REST IN POWER JORDOLOGY" before capping off the set with a performance of Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, also by The Smiths -- who she correctly attributed this song to.

The Senator then walked off stage without another word, before returning after ten minutes to mingle with attendees. When pressed on the reason behind performing There Is A Light ten times in a row, the Senator became evasive and rambled for some time about tarot cards and "electronic spiritual vibrations."

Wow. What a heartfelt tribute. Vale Jordology.
