The shine of the SDP's much-expected election win has already worn off, with a new poll suggesting the SDP would suffer a landslide defeat if an election were held today.
While new governments typically enjoy a honeymoon period, the SDP is currently languishing at just 18% in the polls -- trailing both the CPA and AfD.
Even worse for the government's hopes are the Preferred Prime Minister figures, which show model-forza crushing Youmaton 64-27.
These numbers suggest that the SDP won victory on the back of a narrow field, with strong local candidates defeating virtual unknowns and perennial losers, such as the infamous umatbru.
An anonymous source within the SDP called it a "wake up call."
"I mean, we're fucking scrambling. We have this enormous gap and one term to bridge it. We need to go big and we need to go bold, or Australia will see the back of us next election."
While the SDP's fortunes generally are better than the Prime Minister's specifically, the source poured cold water on the idea of a leadership challenge.
"Youma is the best we've got. Youma is the most popular of any of us. If this is where they're at, a spill would just seal our fate. Final nail in the coffin sort of thing."
The AfD, meanwhile, continue from strength to strength, having absorbed both the Australian Democrats and National Conservative Party. With a 6% jump from the election, they are well positioned for a sizeable victory should their momentum continue.
TheSensibleCentre, former PM who recently merged the Australian Democrats into the AfD, said it showed the Government's election win was "hollow."
"What you've got is a former Prime Minister who thought he was being clever by setting this election day to coincide with Jordology's release from hospital. Well, that hasn't worked. Jordology is back in Parliament and the NCP were caught on the backfoot. They couldn't organise any decent candidates, and the SDP swept in on the back of very slim competition.
"But Australians don't want the SDP. They just wanted them slightly more than the other guy. What Australians want is sensible, middle ground solutions to the problems of the day. Not this radical stuff like ACT Statehood.
"At the next election, we're ready to turf the SDP and give Aussies the government they deserve."
