Australia Tonight has received its final electorate polling for this election campaign in the seats of Pearce, Capricornia, Melbourne and Sydney. After a long campaign, some shocking trends have begun to emerge as the election falls closer into the too close to call category. All comments made are analysis of the current situation, and not predictions of the final outcome.
Sydney
What some had expected to be a close race over the aftermath of the federal budgets has turned into a sigh of relief for the Commonwealth Party, as incumbent MP Cookie_Monster867 who defected from ANCAAP at the end of the term looks set for electoral victory. With the last full day of campaigning tomorrow, Labour's candidate Hayley-182 faces a significant battle in order to try and reverse the trend. Our polling shows Treasurer Cookie_Monster867 rising compared to pre-election polling to 64.6%, with Hayley182 slipping to 35.4%.
Melbourne
Melbourne originally appeared at the start of the campaign to be on the verge of a landslide victory with Labour executive member and former candidate for Melbourne Adiaus predicted to win the seat in a landslide, however our exclusive polling has suggested nearly a third of originally polled Labour voters have swapped to the Independent candidate model-kyosanto, who is running under the banner of the unregistered Green party. While an upset for the Independent is unlikely due to Labour and the Commonwealth Party preferencing each other over model-kyosanto, this suggests that the election result could be significantly closer than originally anticipated by any campaign. Labour candidate Adiaus is currently polling ahead on 42.6%, former Commonwealth leader ButtsforPM is sitting steady on 34.2% of the vote, and model-kyosanto has risen sharply to 30.9% of the vote.
Pearce
The former stronghold and homeland of former Prime Minister NGSpy, Pearce has quickly turned into a close race with Labour MP aldermick attempting to secure a second term after defecting from ANCAAP during the term, causing a headache for Prime Minister Bellman's attempts to pass a budget. With former Prime Minister Edible_Pie making an effort to unseat the former Pirate Party leader, a notable Commonwealth party campaign run by a new candidate for the Commonwealth Party, and the return of Independent candidate Mostlywellthen, this seat has continued to tighten as the race has gone on. Labour MP aldermick currently leads the race with 31.5% of the vote, with LNP heavyweight Edible_Pie on 26.1%, new Commonwealth Party candidate Georg on 21.4%, and Independent candidate Mostly on 21.0%.
Capricornia
In what could be described as a repeat of history if successful, veteran Country Labor MP ARichTeaBiscuit has risen significantly since the last Australia Tonight exclusive poll, rising 13.3% in 3 days to bring this seat into doubt for the first time in this campaign. The Commonwealth Party have put significant resources into this seat, and are hopeful to see former MP SpecificDear901 returned to the seat, with Capricornia being described as the jewel in any future Commonwealth Party government's crown. Commonwealth Party candidate SpecificDear901 has fallen to, but is still leading on, 56.1% of the vote, while ARichTeaBiscuit has risen considerably to 43.9%.
Australia Tonight will provide a final prediction of the seats as the polls close, and will be providing commentary as election night progresses and a clear picture emerges as to who will form the next government of Australia.
Australia Tonight apologises for a technical error which described the margin in Capricornia as larger than it was during our previous polling. This error has been corrected.
