Labour supporters have reason to celebrate as new polling shows the party ahead in 12 electorates — some with enormous margins.
But amid the hype and celebration, MP for Canberra TheSensibleCentre — who polls show is on track for a crushing victory in her electorate — issued some warning and advice.
"The only poll that matters is on election day. We've seen parties with huge hopes go in, only to be let down. Why, it was only last election that the LNP expected a huge win and ended up being totally smashed by a once junior coalition member."
The warning is certainly a wise one, reminding the (according to the polls) many Labour supporters that the election isn't won yet.
"In fact," she continued, "it's for precisely that reason that we need you. You might think the election is won and you can get away with staying home, but I would remind you again: the only poll that matters is on election day.
"That's why, if you want to see a Labour Government — a government that invests in giving people a hand up and fixing this country — then you should get out there and work for it. Sign up to volunteer, get out there and have those transformative conversations with your friends, family, and coworkers. Get them on board! That's how we'll kick out this awful government and end their austerity."
Many Labour supporters responded positively to the reminder, saying things on Facebook like "wow. This made me realise the only poll that matters is on election day."
As a final word, TheSensibleCentre said this:
"The only poll that matters is on election Day "
