A Direct Action EXCLUSIVE review of the budget has revealed an utterly shocking figure.
While the budget has been widely criticised for its deep cuts -- especially to welfare -- the ANCAP MPs voting for it certainly won't be feeling those cuts.
That's because the budget assigns an absolutely stunning $2 million for each MP's and Senator's expenses. That means the same budget that ends income support payments for the most vulnerable will also allow current politicians to claim up to $2 million in expenses each year.
The shock revelations were immediately condemned by former Prime Minister TheSensibleCentre, who called it "one of the most disgusting budget decisions we've ever seen."
"What we have here is a government that is cutting welfare, telling Aussie battlers that they have to do it tough because the bottom line demands it -- and yet they turn around and give themselves $2 million in expenses? How many lobster dinners do they plan to have on the back of the public's tax dollars?"
ChairmanMordecai, a former Justice of the High Court, was similarly forceful in his reaction.
"The thing you've got to understand about these anti-government whackos is as much as they truly do not believe in Government, they do believe in being-in-government. And riding in government cars. And using government money. They just don't believe in it having any other purpose than their gig."
MalooFury, who defected from the ANCAP Party, also blasted the choice.
"This is expected of the ANCAP government, ripping healthcare away from the poor, but making sure the Canberra Clique forever stays well looked after. That is their driving obsession - selling off anything that isn't bolted down; f the poor but making sure their pockets stay full"
It's unknown what effect this revelation will have on the Cunningham by-election -- for which polls are open at the time of publication -- but the ALP's candidate, Trurl20, has been quick to seize on it, saying "they leave a billion-dollar surplus which they could invest in the Australian people, but they spend millions of dollars on their own personal expenses. This is just wrong!"
Some have said that this could push Trurl over the line, while others believe that LNP preferences have already sealed the result for the ANCAP Party. Only time will show who was right in the end.
