In what is being hailed as a seismic shift for the Australian political landscape, former Prime Minister BloodyChrome has been completely exonerated over his role in the greyhound ban.
While opponents of the greyhound ban insisted that the lack of rehoming provisions would lead to a "greyhound genocide," an EXCLUSIVE Direct Action investigation can reveal this was not the case.
Despite what opponents of the ban have claimed, there was in fact a two-year window before the ban went into effect. This gave racing greyhound owners a whole two years to organise the rehoming of their greyhounds. Therefore, any greyhounds killed when the ban went into effect were not -- as previously thought -- killed due to the actions of BloodyChrome, the bill's main proponent.
Rather, any greyhounds killed were purely due to the racing industry refusing to take adequate steps.
Former Prime Minister Drunk_King_Robert, typically quiet since her exit from politics, broke her silence to speak on the revelations.
"I admit it. I gave BloodyChrome grief over the greyhound ban back in the day. At the time, the racing industry had managed to pull the wool over my eyes with their fanciful claims of an unfolding genocide. In reality, BloodyChrome has not a drop of blood on his hands. Not a single drop."
Another former Prime Minister (and President of the Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds), TheSensibleCentre, spoke to Direct Action following the investigation.
"I'm a socialist, obviously, so I have a hell of a lot of disagreements with BloodyChrome. But, quite frankly, the greyhound racing ban was the single best legislation he ever introduced. He was right to fight for it, he was right to pass it, and the government is wrong to try and overturn it. BloodyChrome has been completely vindicated by history. It has absolved him."
The government has insisted that greyhounds are still being killed today, around four years after the ban went into effect. If this claim is true, it reflects poorly on the remnants of the racing industry, but is not an argument in favour of restarting the industry. Rather, it is an argument for smashing its remnants into little pieces and rescuing the greyhounds who have, apparently, been left in cages for the six years since the legislation was passed.
