Hello. I'm sure, if you're reading this, that you saw the absolutely shameful scenes on Sunday. The absolute disgrace of the government, working hand in hand with the CLP wreckers, shutting down debate early. Preventing there being any kind of accountability or scrutiny.
We are better than this. We promised Aussies, those Aussie battlers that elected us, that we would be an open government. That means taking accountability and letting the Parliament get their questions in, so we can be held to account for our decisions and forced to explain why we believe those are the right decisions.
I cannot express enough how sorry I am that some members of the government saw it appropriate to shut down this vital theatre of debate. We are not left-wing radicals that silence debate. No, we are lovers of facts and logic. Yes, both facts, and also, those facts balanced and interpreted through the lens of logic. You can't have one without the other!
This is yet another mistake that the Prime Minister, that fat idiot Griffo -- god bless his heart -- has allowed to happen. The buck stops with him, so while I was unfortunately thrown out by a fascist Clerk and unable to vote to preserve Question Time, ultimately it is the fault of the Prime Minister. He didn't even show up, he just sent his cronies in to shut it down and ensure there was no debate.
Really, he ought to just stand down at this point. He has shown a clear deficit of leadership -- this is not a man qualified to run the local school sports carnival, let alone a country. Really, let's just have him stand down. Let's have him show a bit of dignity by coming out and saying, "look, I admit it. I screwed up. I didn't do the right thing, because I thought I could run the country and show leadership but it's clear I'm not up for it. I'll be stepping aside and letting the party select someone more qualified."
Now, if he did that, he'd go down as a man with a fundamental dignity that is uncommon in politics. Instead, I fear he will cling on desperately, and go down in history as the fat idiot clinging onto the mast as the storm lashes the ship with ever more ferocity. Now, of course, before you get too much sympathy for him, keep in mind that Griffo sailed directly into the storm of his own volition...
Anyway, I pray this doesn't happen again, and I pray that the Government stands up and allows itself to be subject to the critical examination of thorny questions.
