The press gang is waiting in the Parliament courtyard as showstealer1829 comes out and walks to the microphone
Ladies and Gentlemen. I will be making a short statement and taking no questions.
This afternoon we saw porridge sworn in as Prime Minister of Australia. He told the President that he had the numbers and the confidence to control the house. Of which my name was included.
However the prime minister elect was misinformed, whether by advisors or by members of his own cabinet as to the extent of negotiations from my end. As such in the interest of the nation I would like to clarify my position with the current Liberal coalition.
On Sunday I recieved an offer from the Liberal-National coalition with terms they would agree with in return for my confidence and supply, these terms were the renewal of my own e-sports trial bill and the funding of 45 million dollars for the building and upgrade of Mildura Base Hospital. I told the liberal negotiators that while they were in the lead I would be waiting from an offer from the UDP/SDP coalition should they choose to offer one. Somewhere along the line in their HQ this was interpreted as my agreeance to terms. This is simply NOT the case. No agreement was signed. No deal finalised.
With the government already sworn in we find ourselves in a sticky situation, in the intrest of transparency and fairness. I call on the prime minister to introduce a vote of confidence in his government into the House. This will give the opposition time to make a renewed offer if they wish. If they do not, it is my intention to give my support to the current government, but in the interest of openess and transparency the government of this country should not stand because they assumed incorrectly they had my support. I await the Prime Minister's response and look forward to the vote in the House.
Thank you very much
