/u/silicon_based_life stands before the camera in his office, wearing a purple shirt and a tasteful orange tie. Behind him, slightly off-centre, is a large portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The video has a decent production value, with CA-themed graphics highlighting points in his speech.
"Greetings all followers of Centre Alliance! I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the party this election. I have long been a member and follower of the ethos and policy of the party, but only have I decided to throw my hat in the ring to campaign for it. I hope to present our message to the voters in a comprehensive and accessible so that the people of Australia can decide on us for themselves.
"Before entering politics, I have had a career as a maintenance engineer on Australia power plants, especially on the Kogan Creek Power Station near Brisbane. I'm proud to have helped this power station keep it's lower greenhouse gas emissions rating than other similar stations, and I know a little bit about how power and greenhouse has emissions works in this country. I remain committed to a just transition, that is, a gradual phasing out of fossil fuel power plants in favour of renewable energy, but I know that this will take some time and we'll require special investment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions until then. Climate change is undoubtedly the greatest threat facing our world, but we can't let the country go to chaos before climate change forces us into chaos. Centre Alliance would also push for diplomatic moves to get other countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions alongside Australia, which would be a good investment of our time and energy as a nation to helping the world as a whole.
"Some of you may also recognise me as the operator of a satirical Twitter account, something I enjoyed doing in my free time.
"If elected, my priorities would be to seek the power policies I've just described, to ensure a balanced, moderate economic policy is followed by the government, and to seek a progressive social agenda that focuses on helping the most vulnerable and most oppressed people in our society. I have long felt that Centre Alliance needs a voice like that in power and if elected, I would help provide that voice.
"Thank you for watching, and see you on the campaign trail!"
