In a local set of offices, showstealer 1829 is speaking to a crowd full of people eager for change and fed up with the current state of Australian Politics
Ladies and Gentlemen. I never thought we'd be here again. I never thought it would happen but a lot can change in just a short amount of time.
When I left the parliament Australia was in good shape. Australia was a place to be proud, a place where democracy reigned and the people were listened to. Even when what the people were saying was not what we wanted to hear all the time. Where did this fundamental message go so horribly wrong?
In the past two terms we've seen party after party after party ignore the messages of the people for their own ideologies. We have seen the people ignored as the people masquerading as members of parliament in Canberra scheme and move and backstab and complain, rather than doing what they were elected to do in the first place, that fundamental first thing that any parliamentarian should do, listening to the people, listening to you.
For the past two terms we have seen the Australian Parliament descend into an absolute farce, an absolute joke, an embarrassment to the people of Australia and the electors of Australia.
The party political system is broken, irreparably and ideologically broken. For six months we have seen the worst of the left wing and the right wing try and impose their will on the nation and drown out the voice of the people, from laws that no one asked for that impact heavily on peoples lives, to talking down to people who raise concerns, to this whole movement to limit voting and take away your voice. our voice, our right to be listened to by the people that represent us.
One year ago. I stood for the Australian Parliament as an independent because I believed the party political system needed a shakeup, that these big parties had lost their way and their ability to listen to the people of Australia because they were blinded by their own ideals. When I finished up in Parliament the tide was beginning to turn. Together we had shaken up the Parliament, Together we made the parties to listen to us.
Now six months after I left parliament I ask the people of Australia to stand up again and join me on a new journey. To once again stand up and to help me, help us shake things up in the halls of power. To make sure that these parties will listen to us. That they remember that it is not them that have the power in this country, it is each and every one of you. It is every Australian that heads to the ballot box and votes. It is every Australian that goes to work every day to feed their families, it is every Australian that is sick and tired of the party politics that have caused our great Australian Parliament to fall into disrepute and disarray.
One year ago ladies and gentlemen I asked for your help to send a message to the parties and help me shake things up in Canberra. Today I ask for your help again. Together we can make a difference, together we can change the ways things are. Together we can make enough noise that every person that puts party over their obligation to the people of the country will have no choice but to hear.
Today I announce my return to politics and my candidacy for the Parliament of Australia. Together we can shake things up again. Together we will make our voices heard and together we give the parties that have ignored the people of Australia a huge kick in the crotch."
