UnexpectedHippo, Liberal candidate for Lingiari, gave a speech at the IG_99 Aquatic Centre in Darwin ahead of the Federal Election.

“Good morning guys! It’s great to see so many of you have turned out this afternoon so that we can give Lingiari the Liberal representation it needs.

“Now we all know what the deal is here. The socialists, if left in power, will drive this country into the ground. Tax and spend, tax and spend, that is their mantra. We want you to keep more of your hard-earned money, and with a Liberal government that is exactly what will happen. Lower taxes, and more money into your pocket.

“Not only will we fix the damage done by the socialists to your pay packet, we will lower companies tax so that Australia is once again a country where entrepreneurs can prosper. No-one should be unable to start or expand their business because of unreasonable taxation levels, and the Liberals will ensure that small business can thrive if in office.

“And how are we to create next generation’s entrepreneurs? Through our education system, of course. Over the next four years, we will invest almost $75 billion into schooling, bringing Australian children to the very top of the global academic community. Plans like the Learning for Life scheme and the Skilling Australians Fund will also ensure that those who have too often been marginalised by the traditional education systems are finally put first.

“My party recognised the vital importance of Medicare for so many citizens. That’s why we will safeguard Medicare through our Medicare Guarantee Fund, providing the money to fund our world class health provision. We also recognise the vital importance of mental healthcare for you, and that’s why we have committed to pumping another $4.3 billion into this field.

“I can see from the number of you out here today that you are behind me and my party 100%. But we have to get our message out there. Only with your support can we take Lingiari back into Liberal hands, and take Australia back from the Socialists. Thank you all so very much!”

UnexpectedHippo left the stage as the crowd applauded, before he met with supporters for pictures and conversations. Shortly after, he left with one last wave to the crowd.
