"Order!
I have received a message from the Member for Mayo, /u/Slow-Passenger-1542 (CA) to introduce a motion, namely the Great Australian Bight Application To UNESCO World Heritage Listing Motion as Private Member's Business and seconded by the Member for Melbourne, /u/Rook_Wilt1 (SDP). The Motion is authored by Slow-Passenger-1542.
Motion Details
I moved that this House:
(a) Recognised that the Great Australian Bight holds a national significance in Australia and deserves the greatest recognition of protection from future dangers by gaining world heritage listing.
(b) The site contains one of the world's natural beauty wonders, a vibrant marine life and pristine country with breathtaking cliffs.
(c) Contains some of the most threatened and endangered species in this country and species that can be found nowhere in the world.
(d) Recognise over 65,000 years of local indigenous culture in the area and the utmost importance in protecting The Bight for future generations to enjoy.
(e) A world heritage listing of the Great Australian Bight would ensure full protection and recognition for what the site deserves to be known for.
Debate Required
The question being that the Motion be agreed to, debate shall now commence.
If a member wishes to move amendments, they are to do so by responding to the pinned comment in the thread below with a brief detail of the area of the amendments.
Debate shall end at 5PM AEDT (UTC 11) 01/03/2024."
