I have a 50-year-old Bel Air sewing machine that I'd like to pass on to someone who will be able to give it a better home than I have. I offered it through Freecycle, but none of the three people who asked for it actually showed up to pick it up.
The machine is built into a little cabinet with a fold-out table top. My grandmother gifted it to me probably 25 years ago, and it's been in storage ever since. Somewhere along the line something bit through the main electric cord, so it doesn't currently work. Both the cabinet and the machine have surface imperfections. But if you cleaned it up, refinished it, and replaced that wire, I think you'd end up with a real beauty of a machine. Going by the weight, I'd say every part of it that could be made of metal is.
I'd like to have the machine picked up on Wednesday afternoon, at my apartment near the intersection of IH-35 and US-183.
