After last years fiasco in regards to 400,000 people stuck on the two lane roads in rideshares for hours last year, COTA has made some drastic changes.
This year COTA Blvd will be reserved for buses and VIPs only. Rideshare will operate out of Del Valle High School which will be closed Friday. There will be a free air conditioned shuttle bus from the entrance gate to del valle HS.
Unless you have a premium parking, which sold out earlier in the year, you will have to take the shuttle or use rideshare.
There are two primary shuttles. Cost is $85 for 2 day pass, $45 advance purchase, & $55 purchase in person.
Shuttle 1 leaves from Barton creek square mall. There is plenty of parking there. The drop off and pick up is in the JC Penney lot but you may park anywhere in the mall parking lot.
Shuttle 2 leaves from Travis county expo center near the intersection of 290 and 130. You’ll enter this facility from “gate 1”.
This is information I received from a pamphlet. I paraphrased most of it to keep it short.
They (cota staff) believe that having all of Barton springs mall as a parking lot will help alleviate the parking trouble.
