It looks like a high pressure ridge may be building back into the area. The latest models have greatly reduced the rain chances. Highs of low to mid 90’s expected so nothing of the heat we normally see this time of year as the soil has to dry out again. Although this summer started out with a bang it’s winding down with a whimper. This is not even close to 2011.
We can all be thankful for a really rare august rainfall. Our lawns are green and the creeks are flowing but lake Travis hasn’t risen at all since we didn’t get rain in the right places of the watershed.
The good news is this kind of hot summer in may, June, & July that we had was abnormal and we probably won’t have it for another 10 years. However the heat we had in July can definitely happen in august anytime in the future. We caught a big break.
